Analysis
This poem is written in a way of haiku. It demonstrates the difference between the ideal and reality of the environment. The inspiration of this poem is from a picture, which hanging on the walls of the library. Although this haiku only has 3 lines with 17 total syllables, there is a deeper meaning behind it. The first 2 lines use images that creating a starry night in mind. Just imagine in the darkness of night, it is difficult to see the road ahead. In the meanwhile, if the sky is glittering with stars, it will be a guide to recognize the world and you will enjoy the starry night. With the rapidly growing of pollution, however, it is hard to have a starry night in the lives. The last line in this haiku illustrates that the starry night becomes a dream and the only method to enjoy it is to see the picture by using irony. In brief, the poem reveals the state of environment for arousing the consciousness of protecting the environment.
